Neglected CTEV or clubfoot is still seen among rural populations, where parent counselling has not been done or owing to the poor socioeconomic status regular visits are made to a specialty centre. Any circumstance that prevents the individual from participating in casting and serial procedures causes the deformity to worsen and become more challenging to correct. In this circumstance, a child who has already begun walking will exhibit a deformity due to untreated clubfoot.
To train participants to analyse and synthesize neglected clubfoot cases through the use of objective and subjective data and then provide evidence based orthotic intervention to improve patient outcomes after surgical interventions.
The course will be delivered in English and is a full online course, whereby students will be attending scheduled lectures. In addition, there will be Evidence Based Approaches (EBA) from recent literature and case studies on the orthotic management of neglected clubfoot after surgical intervention.
The learning outcomes are outline as to:-
- Comprehend the concepts and features of neglected clubfoot
- Describe the patho-anatomy of neglected clubfoot.
- Reflect critically upon the evidence-based literature supporting the provision of orthoses in the management of neglected clubfoot after surgical interventions.
