Prof. Reginald Kavishe
Reginald Kavishe is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the KCMUCo. He holds an MSc in Biochemistry from KCMUCo and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (Drug transporters and glutathione metabolism) from Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen The Netherlands.
Reginald Kavishe is a member of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) Therapeutic Efficacy Studies (TES) task force under the Ministry of Health Community Development, Gender, Elderly, and Children. He works closely with the Pan-African Malaria Vector Research Consortium (PAMVERC) where he has been the Lead Laboratory Scientist for four years (2010 – 2014) setting up molecular tools for malaria and vector research at their molecular Lab at KCMUCo. He is also the Coordinator of the East African Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR-2) Training Node and a member of the THRiVE consortium.
His research interest is in Malaria epidemiology and clinical trials, drug resistance mechanisms, and genetics of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. He has strong experience in mentorship and supervision of MSc, Ph.D., and Postdoctoral fellows.
